The MWC Hall of Fame welcomes "Good ol' JR" Jim Ross into the Class of 2017! Real Name: James William Ross From: Norman,Oklahoma Birthday: January 3,1952 Debut: 1974 (ongoing) Ring Name: Jim Ross Accomplishments/Awards: CAC Art Abrhams Lifetime Achievement Award (2010) WWE Hall of Fame (2007) NWA Hall of Fame (2016) WON Best Television Announcer With all due respect to Gordon Solie and Bob Caudle but I think the greatest commentator in the history of professional wrestling is none other than "Good Ol' JR" Jim Ross!
For almost 5 decades, JR has been entertaining wrestling fans all over the world! He first started out as a backstage interviewer in "Cowboy" Bill Watts' promotion: Mid-South Wrestling. He would then continue being an interviewer for Jim Crockett Promotions which would later turn into WCW from 1982 to 1993. It wasn't until in 1993 when he was hired by the WWE as a play by play commentator and made his debut on WrestleMania 9 of all events! As they say, the rest is history. JR is and will always be the voice of the WWE! He is the voice of a generation, the man has called so many unforgetable and timeless moments from Mick Foley's fall from top of the Hell in a Cell,Stone Cold winning the WWF Champioship from HBK,to Barry Horowitz picking up his first ever victory! Besides being a great commentator, JR was also once the head of talent relations and is the man behind the hirings of wrestlers like The Rock,Edge,Hardy Boyz,Mick Foley,John Cena, and Brock Lesnar just to name a few. When his WWE run ended in 2013, JR has commentated for a few other promotions such as NJPW and WCPW. If some of you remembered, he also stepped in the ring for a couple of matches! As you know besides being the greatest commentator in wrestling, JR also runs his own brand of BBQ sauce which is widely appreciated by wrestling fans and BBQ enthusiasts alike. Good ol' JR has done it all, he is a man who deserves every ounce of respect and credit he gets. |
