Bob Armstrong is the patriarch of the famous Armstrong wrestling family. All four of his sons went on to follow his footsteps as a pro wrestler: *Brad - a top midcarder at best in multiple territories during his prime. *Scott - also a former wrestler but best known for his stint as a referee in WWE. *Steve - the least successful out of the Armstrong brothers, best known for his gimmick as "Arachnaman." *Brian - the most successful out of the brothers, most people know him by his ring name "Road Dogg." All of his sons were great and all but I think Bob's legacy is still much stronger and more impactful with all due respect. He is one of the greatest wrestlers from the state of Georgia and is the top babyface of said territory for a long time! In 1960 he decided to stopped being a firefighter and become a pro wrestler. He has wrestled for numerous companies over the years but he is best remembered for his runs in the NWA and Georgia Championship Wrestling where he held a plethora of championships! He once had an accident in the gym where the weights fell on his face thus needing to have surgery, he then donned a mask and started competing as "The Bullet." This essentially became Armstrong's "alter ego" and would be his ephithet for the rest of his career whether masked or not. Bob was one of the most underrated all-around workers if you ask me. A very skilled wrestler and can go toe-to-toe with anyone you put him in the ring with and even around at his late age during the 90's he can still wrestle good for a man his age. His best known rival for a long time in his career is "Cowboy" Bob Orton Jr. The two had many classic matches over the years and they had their final face off in 2010. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2011 which is amazing in itself since he only had a few matches with the company around the early 70's. In 2016 after a successful and decorated 6 decade run in professional wrestling, The Bullet finally decided to hang up the boots. |
